the beginning: Geelong movement co.

Geelong Movement Co. really started with a simple belief: movement is medicine. Coming from a background in physio and public health, I’d seen over and over how strength, fitness, and connection could change lives, not just in preventing injury and illness, but in giving people confidence and a sense of belonging. Too often I met people who felt left out of exercise, or like it wasn’t for them. I wanted to create a place that felt different. A place where movement was for everyone, not just the already fit.

For me, this has never just been about workouts. It’s about people. I know how important social connection is for long-term health, sometimes just as important as the training itself. That’s why we built this gym as a community first. The classes, the programs, even the small conversations between sets, they’re all about lifting each other up as much as lifting weights.

Back in 2012, this gym started out as a CrossFit box, and I still believe in what CrossFit stands for. But I also know not everyone wants to tackle all the complex movements. That’s why we run a dual program: one path that stays true to our CrossFit foundation, and another that’s simpler and more accessible. It means people get to choose what works for them, without barriers, while still being part of the same community.

Our vision is simple: build a community where every person feels strong, confident and capable. A place where you can move better, live better, and support the people around you to do the same. Since 2012, our mission has stayed the same: help people get strong and healthy in classes that are safe, fun, and led by coaches who care.
